Your AI housing companion — built into UniRenter. Always on, always working in your corner.
What is Cob?
Cob is short for cobber — Australian slang for a good mate. He's UniRenter's AI assistant, powered by Claude, and he's woven into every part of the platform. Whether you're building your housemate profile, browsing a lease transfer listing, managing key tenancy dates, or asking about your rights as a renter, Cob's there — as a small floating button in the bottom-right corner of every page.
What can Cob do?
🎯
Help you find the right housemate
Cob gives you nudges at each step of your profile — honest advice like "pick suburbs close to your uni first" and "be honest about your sleep schedule, it causes more friction than anything else."
✍️
Write your vibe summary
Cob can generate a short personality portrait — a couple of sentences in plain language — based on five questions you answer in your own words. It appears on your profile so potential housemates get a real sense of you.
🔄
Guide lease transfer handovers
Cob is active throughout the lease transfer process — from the moment you post a listing, through document upload, inspection, and the six-step handover. He knows which documents matter and when.
📅
Keep you on top of key dates
Cob pulses when a key date is approaching — rent reviews, condition report deadlines, notice-to-vacate windows. He'll check in if you haven't visited your dashboard in a while and a date is coming up.
📋
Answer tenancy questions
Cob knows what each state tenancy authority says about emergency repairs, pet bans, bond deductions, and more. He'll always point you to the right authority and free advice line — never pretend to be a lawyer.
Why Cob is different
Most housing platforms treat AI as a search filter or a chatbot bolted on at the end. Cob is different — he's active from the moment you enter your email, and he understands where you are in the process.
He's always in the bottom-right corner of the page — a small yellow button. Tap it any time. He won't pester you, but when something matters, he'll let you know.
